Lisa, Thanks for following me. So far I've baked 13 of Mom's favorites she wanted us girls to have. I still have some to go, but I sure have enjoyed baking them and all the memories that came with them. I hated fruit cocktail, and was shocked she had a recipe for a fruit cocktail cake in the booklet, which are recipes from the 50s. But I made it and immediately I recognized it. She must have made up a name for it so I would eat it, but I love it! Yes, it's not just food, but the memories they bring back. Great post!

Thank you for sharing your memory of your mom's cooking. I love hearing them. Is your mom's recipe book also filled with clippings of recipes from magazines?

Lisa, No. It's just a little ring binder with handwritten recipes - some that are from neighbors. For those recipes I've shared their story - or what I know of it. Mom was going to make one of these booklets for all three of us but she died before she could do that. I have the original. If you're interested, check out my series: Recipes She Left Behind.
